I Have Many Fond Memories of Timber Ridge Golf Course
I used to operate a specialty paper converting plant in Brighton and, during those years, I played in the men's league at Timber Ridge. We would play 18 holes of golf each week and cap the evening off with some food and drink in the clubhouse after our round.
The golf pro at the time, Paul Aiken, would come into the lounge with prizes for closest to the pin on the par three holes, longest drive, and low gross and net.
I remember one week playing with one guy who was a member of the Timber Ridge maintenance team. He was having the round of his life. It was so much fun to witness such amazing golf. Every shot he hit was pure. Exactly as planned.
Standing on #17 tee deck, he was sitting at 58 strokes. Parring #17 (a par three) and #18 (a par four) would leave him with a score of 65, matching the lowest score ever posted at Timber Ridge by a recreational golfer. Timber Ridge is a Par 71.
Sadly, he played the final two holes, bogey, bogey, leaving him with a round of 67, or 4 under the course par of 71. I don't know about you, but I would've taken that in a heartbeat.
One of the Top Five Golf Courses in the Bay of Quinte Golf Region
The landscape of Timber Ridge Golf Course stands out from other courses in the Bay of Quinte and Prince Edward County golf region.
Set on 200 acres of rolling terrain, the course is surrounded by dense forests, mature trees, and natural water features that create a picturesque backdrop for every hole.
Unlike flatter courses in the area, Timber Ridge's undulating fairways and elevation changes add a layer of complexity to each shot, while panoramic views of the countryside enhance the overall atmosphere.
The greens at Timber Ridge are multi-tiered. These tiered surfaces require precise approach shots to avoid being left with difficult putts across different levels. Don't feel bad if you end up with a four-putt on a hole. I know I have been guilty of a few four-putts at Timber Ridge over the years.
The clever course design seamlessly integrates the natural surroundings, giving golfers the sense that they are playing within a pristine, untouched environment. This distinctive blend of rugged beauty and strategic challenges makes Timber Ridge a standout course in the region.
A Tee Shot I Will Never Forget
I remember one tee shot on hole # 1 that turned out to be quite funny.
Being a lefty, my plan was to aim down the left side of the fairway and hit a baby draw that would land the ball in the centre of the fairway.
As we all know, things don't always go as planned in golf, and my tee shot on #1 that day was evidence of that. I hit a fade (or was it a slice) and my ball headed for the woods down the left side.
I re-teed and hit a nice drive straight down the middle and it landed next to the 200-yard marker.
I was standing over my tee ball, getting ready for my second shot, when I heard a cry from the woods, "Are you hitting a Bridgestone e6?"
"Yes", I replied.
"That was a little too close for comfort. Be more careful next time", yelled the guy back to me.
I replied, "Sorry about that".
For those of you who have not played Timber Ridge, there are several very nice homes tucked into the woods down the left side of #1 fairway. But, when the leaves are on the trees, they are virtually invisible from the tee blocks.
To this day, when I think back to that tee shot, I picture a guy out on his back deck in his housecoat, morning newspaper under his left arm and a fresh cup of coffee in his right hand, when, all of a sudden, my Bridgestone e6 lands smack dab into his cup of coffee and causes the coffee to splash all over his face and housecoat. I must confess, I kind of chuckle when that image appears in my head.
I should have had a little more fun with that guy rather than just saying "sorry". Maybe I should have yelled back, "Do I have a shot?" or "Can you please throw it back to me?'"
Fantastic Food, Excellent Service
The food and drink offerings at Timber Ridge Golf Course perfectly complement the overall golfing experience. Both inside and outside spaces provide a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for golfers to unwind after a round.
The clubhouse features Ironwood Lounge and Southside Terrace as well as a larger dining room called The Timber Room that can accommodate 150 guests. With a full-sized kitchen, players can enjoy a selection of freshly prepared meals, ranging from hearty breakfasts to satisfying lunches and dinners.
The menu offers a variety of options, including classic pub fare, seasonal dishes, and daily specials that cater to a range of tastes.
The friendly staff ensures that meals are served promptly, making it easy to grab a quick bite before heading back out to the course.
For those looking to enjoy a drink, the fully stocked bar offers a great selection of beverages, including local craft beers, wines, and refreshing cocktails, perfect for toasting a great round of golf.
There are two fire pits next to the Southside Terrace overlooking #18 green. I can tell you from firsthand experience that sitting next to a fire with a cool beverage in your hand after your round, and watching fellow golfers play up #18 is extremely relaxing.

Here is a Five Star Review for Timber Ridge Golf Course written by Taylor D earlier this week:
Played this course on a Friday afternoon with some long time buddies on a trip up north and I gotta say we were all genuinely really impressed with this course! I’m an avid golfer and play a lot of different course in my free time as well as when I go on trips I make it a habit to google and checkout places to golf before heading out on a trip. We landed on playing here and we are glad we did. The course is very well maintained, the design and challenge of the course was really fun and scenic! The change between playing a very woody/forestry style into a few links holes peppered in throughout the 18 made this course really unique! Would recommend 100% 5/5 on all fronts and will definitely make the 2hr+ drive from home to play it for sure.
If I was reading Google Reviews of a golf course that I knew nothing about, Taylor D's review would make me want to play Timber Ridge Golf Course for sure.
Luckily for me, I have played Timber Ridge well over 100 times and I love playing it every time. I totally agree with Taylor's review.
