Bay of Quinte Golf & Country Club: Expansion Updates and What’s Ahead
New Holes, New Energy, and a Clear Roadmap to a Two-Course Public Resort
Back in March 2024, I published a blog titled “Attention Golfers: The Bay of Quinte Golf & Country Club Has a Big Surprise for the Start of the 2024 Golf Season.” That post outlined exciting expansion plans for one of Ontario’s most beloved golf destinations.
Today, I’m thrilled to share an update as the 2024 season wraps up—and anticipation builds for what’s ahead in 2025 and beyond.
Town Hall Meeting: A Vision for the Future
On November 30, 2024, I attended a standing-room-only Town Hall Meeting at X1X Restaurant. CEO Roger Lichty and the Bay of Quinte management team delivered a presentation titled “Continuing to Evolve.”
The energy was electric as attendees got an insider look at the club’s bold transformation—from a semi-private facility into a full-fledged public golf resort featuring two distinct 18-hole courses.
Golf Cart Tour: Seeing the Vision in Motion
After the presentation, guests were invited on a guided cart tour along freshly paved paths that wound through the future layout. Gazing out over vast acres of future holes and a massive new water reservoir, seemed to be one-quarter the size of our local Oak Lake- it became clear just how ambitious this transformation really is.
2025 Golf Season: What to Expect
Here’s a breakdown of what’s ahead for the 2025 season:
Three New Holes on the Black Course:
Hole #9: New par-three
Hole #13 and #14: Two new par-fours
(#14 green was visible as we approached the old 2024 #14 tee blocks)
Hole 18 Closure:
The current #18 will close for the season for renovations.
It will reopen in 2026 as a par-three to complete the Old Course’s 18-hole layout.
Parking Lot Expansion:
The berm on the east side will be used to raise the fairway on the old #18 by three feet for better drainage.
Stay & Play Lodging:
New accommodation will be built west of the main entrance.
Black Course Configuration for 2025
April to Mid-May
20-hole routing: Includes 9 new and 11 original holes
Special features: Warm-up hole + playoff hole
The Old Nine will not be in play during this time
Mid-May to End of Season
12 new holes + 8 original holes
The Old Nine will reopen for play
A Transformative Vision for the Club
The evolution isn’t just about adding golf holes. The long-term plan for Bay of Quinte Golf & Country Club includes:
Expansion to 36 holes with two distinctive 18-hole courses
Focus on social experiences to welcome golfers of all levels
Launch of exclusive Pro Shop merchandise and guest services
Enhanced amenities for a premium golf experience
Projected Timeline:
2025: One 9-hole course and a modified 18-hole layout
2026: Preview year for two completed 18-hole courses
2027: Official naming and launch of the new second course
Touring the New Golf Holes with Roger Lichty
Several weeks before the Town Hall, I toured the new holes with Roger Lichty. Seeing these holes in their raw form—just sand, dirt, trees, and water—was inspiring.
Roger’s excitement was palpable. He described each hole as a carefully designed experience, not just a way to get from tee to green.
“Every golf hole is going to be special,” Roger shared. “Each will offer a unique challenge and a memorable experience.”
Looking Ahead to 2025 and Beyond
With a bold vision, strong leadership, and visible progress, the Bay of Quinte Golf & Country Club is redefining what a public golf experience can be in southeastern Ontario.
Whether you’re a longtime member or planning your first visit, 2025 promises to be an unforgettable year for golfers in the Bay of Quinte and Prince Edward County.
I can’t wait to tee it up on #1 of the Black Course on Opening Day of the 2025 Season.
Happy Golfing, Everyone.
Stay safe. Stay well. Have fun.
